Foodics Acquires Norma AI to Power Restaurant Analytics at Scale

Foodics has fully acquired Greek hospitality analytics startup Norma AI, whose natural-language BI platform now serves 10,000+ branches across the Foodics network.

What happened

Saudi Arabia-based food and beverage SaaS platform Foodics has completed the full acquisition of Norma AI, a Greek data-intelligence startup specialising in hospitality analytics. The deal follows an initial investment Foodics made in Norma AI during the first quarter of 2025, and marks the consolidation of the startup's team and technology into Foodics' dedicated AI division.

Norma AI was founded by George Henein and Anastasios Anastasiadis and is best known for launching what it describes as the hospitality sector's first natural-language querying business intelligence platform in 2024. The tool allows restaurant operators to pose questions in plain language and receive instant insights and custom dashboards — removing the need for SQL skills or data analysts to interrogate operational data.

Since Foodics integrated Norma's technology following the initial investment, the capability has been adopted across more than 10,000 customer branches. The acquisition now positions Foodics to accelerate the build-out of agentic AI solutions designed to give restaurant operators real-time, intelligent decision-making support.

Why it matters

For anyone working in customer experience or service design, this deal illustrates how the intelligence layer is becoming the new battleground in hospitality technology. Natural-language querying collapses the gap between raw operational data and the frontline decisions that shape guest experience — a manager who can ask "which menu items are driving complaints on Friday evenings?" and get an instant answer is far better equipped to act than one waiting on a weekly report. That is a meaningful shift in the feedback loop between customer behaviour and operator response.

From a behavioural-economics perspective, the move towards agentic AI — systems that do not merely surface information but prompt or even initiate action — raises important questions about decision architecture in service environments. When AI begins to recommend staffing adjustments, menu changes or promotional triggers in real time, operators must think carefully about how those nudges are framed and whether they reinforce or undermine the human judgement that ultimately determines service quality.

By the numbers

  • 10,000+ customer branches have adopted Norma AI's technology since its integration into the Foodics platform following the initial investment.
  • 2024 — the year Norma AI launched what it claims was the hospitality sector's first natural-language querying BI platform.
  • Q1 2025 — when Foodics made its initial investment in Norma AI, ahead of the full acquisition completed in 2025.

The Renascence take

Most commentary on this deal will focus on the technology stack. The more consequential story is about where analytical power sits in a service organisation — and what happens to experience quality when it moves closer to the operator and further from the customer-facing team.

Natural-language BI is genuinely democratising: it puts insight in the hands of a shift supervisor, not just a data team. But the risk most operators will miss is that faster insight without a corresponding culture of acting on customer signals simply produces faster confirmation of existing biases. The behavioral principle here is implementation intention — insight only changes behaviour when it is tied to a specific, pre-committed response. A customer-obsessed operator should not just deploy Norma's dashboards; they should redesign their service rituals so that each insight triggers a named owner and a defined next action within a set timeframe.
