Agentic AI Trust Infrastructure: Entrust Launches Co-Dev Programme

Entrust has launched an Agentic AI Trust Accelerator to help enterprises build identity and governance frameworks for deploying autonomous AI agents in live production environments.

What happened

Entrust, the identity-centric security firm, has launched the Agentic AI Trust Accelerator, a co-development programme designed to help enterprises and integration partners build the identity and trust infrastructure required to move autonomous AI agents from controlled pilots into live production environments.

The programme brings together organisations that are deploying agentic AI — systems capable of taking actions and making decisions with minimal human intervention — with the technical and governance frameworks needed to verify, authenticate and audit those agents at scale. Entrust is positioning the initiative as a response to a gap it has identified in the market: businesses are advancing quickly with agentic AI experimentation but lack the foundational trust architecture to deploy responsibly.

Why it matters

For customer experience leaders, agentic AI represents both a significant opportunity and a meaningful risk. These systems can autonomously handle service interactions, execute transactions and personalise journeys in real time — but only if customers and regulators can trust that the agent acting on their behalf is verified, accountable and operating within defined boundaries. Without robust identity infrastructure, the very autonomy that makes agentic AI compelling becomes a liability: a source of fraud, error and eroded confidence.

From a behavioural economics perspective, trust is not a soft metric — it is the precondition for adoption. Customers extend permission to automated systems based on perceived reliability and institutional credibility. If an agentic AI acts in ways that feel opaque or unaccountable, the psychological contract breaks down rapidly and is difficult to rebuild. Entrust's programme acknowledges this directly by treating identity and trust infrastructure as a prerequisite, not an afterthought, to scaling AI-driven service.

The Renascence take

The industry conversation around agentic AI has been dominated by capability — what these systems can do. Entrust is making a quieter but more consequential argument: that what they can be trusted to do is the harder, more urgent problem. Most operators building AI-powered service journeys are not yet asking that question rigorously enough.

The real design challenge in agentic AI is not intelligence — it is accountability. Customers will tolerate an imperfect agent far more readily than an unaccountable one. Service designers should be mapping trust touchpoints into their AI journeys with the same rigour they apply to human-staffed ones: who authorised this action, how is it auditable, and what happens when it goes wrong? Entrust's accelerator signals that identity infrastructure is becoming a competitive differentiator in CX, not merely a compliance checkbox. Operators who treat it as the latter will find themselves rebuilding customer confidence at considerable cost.
